Adaptrum Announces FCC Certified "Super Wi-Fi" Solution and Launch of Commercial Trial in Virginia
Adaptrum's TV band White Space device, Model ACRS 1.0, was approved by FCC on April 19, 2012. It was authorized to operate in the entire UHF TV band with an output EIRP close to 36 dBm, the FCC’s power limit.
Adaptrum also announced a commercial trial of the new device in Nottoway County Virginia to demonstrate how this technology can help bring broadband service to underserved populations. The Adaptrum device is approved to work in conjunction with the FCC approved Telcordia database.

Microsoft and Adaptrum Team Up to Demonstrate “Super Wi-Fi” at IDB Meeting in Montevideo, Uruguay

Microsoft and Adaptrum together demonstrated the “Super Wi-Fi” technology at the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) Annual Meeting March 16 –19, 2012 in Montevideo, Uruguay. TV whitespace technology, often called “Super Wi-Fi,” is an innovative and potentially disruptive wireless broadband technology pioneered by the FCC and leading U.S. companies like Microsoft and Google and U.S. based startups. IDB is a multilateral financial institution that provides development financing for Latin American countries. IDB invests in various state infrastructure projects including broadband infrastructure in Latin American countries. Press Release (Additional photos)

Adaptrum supplies TV whitespace solution to UK Cambridge TV White Spaces trial
Adaptrum demonstrated its unlicensed TV whitespace radio system at the Cambridge TV Whitespace Trial launch event in Cambridge, United Kingdom, on June 29th, 2011 . In the demonstration, the Adaptrum whitespace system provided the broadband IP connectivity allowing a client-side Microsoft XBOX to stream live HD videos from the Internet. Also as part of the demo, a live XBOX/Kinect video chat was established between two XBOX/Kinect units connected through the same TV whitespace connection. These applications were demonstrated under a highly challenging radio propagation environment with more than 120 dB link loss through buildings, foliage, walls, furniture, people etc. and with severe multipath effects.

Adaptrum Demonstrates TVBD Prototype at 2011 NAB Convention with Microsoft

Adaptrum demonstrated at Microsoft’s show booth a wireless platform it has developed, which delivers high-bandwidth broadband speeds while also meeting the FCC’s strict interference protection requirements. Microsoft Research also demonstrated its prototype white spaces database, which dynamically controls unlicensed device access to TV band spectrum. (Press release)“Microsoft is pleased that Adaptrum has agreed to demonstrate its white spaces technologies at the NAB Show. Mobile data usage is exploding and the need for additional wireless broadband capacity will only continue to grow. As Microsoft, Adaptrum, and other parties demonstrated in the FCC’s TV white spaces proceeding, greater use of dynamic spectrum access technologies will enable consumers to make more productive use of limited spectrum resources. The TV band white spaces provide a golden opportunity for industry to demonstrate the benefits of devices that can adaptively operate on different spectrum bands and protect primary users from harmful interference.” -- Paul Garnett, Director for Interoperability & Standards at Microsoft.

Adaptrum Demonstrates TVBD Prototypes at FCC
Adaptrum was the first company to demonstrate at FCC a prototype TVBD that actually complies with the rules adopted in September 2010. The transmitted waveform complied with all the requirements of the new rules. (Due to the lack of an operational database, the database interaction could not be demonstrated at this time.)
